No the FS stands for Fragile State not FunSubstance. Fragile State is a play on words here like Arizona or Washington State, but "fragile" state instead like a state of mind.
Have you guys heard about what has happened at Mizzou? The racial tension there is really high. Students and teachers have been protesting for equality while, at the same time, white supremacist are going to social media threatening to shoot any blacks on campus. I have a best friend that goes there and she was absolutely terrified for her life. She has told me that the news has been taking advantage of the situation, but I think you guys should take a look into it.
Not to detract from the seriousness of the situation in missouri, but my school, University of California, Riverside, just had a protest concerning recent spikes in tuition. There are real issues that college students take on and challenge through protest (racial problems at mizzou, unfair tuition prices almost anywhere). Calling all of us student-protesters "fragile" undermines the legitimacy of our causes and the seriousness of our situations.
The tuition argument is stupid and if you don't want a degree, don't go to college. As for Missouri, none of the complaints have been substantiated, except the cotton balls one, which was looked into properly. Yeah there is racial stuff that goes on, but firing the president wasn't a solution. The kid behind that "hunger strike" comes from a rich family. His dad made 8 million dollars last year. He's hardly the poster boy for inequality.
Ignoring the swastika comment...
How is the tuition argument stupid? The whole point is that I DO want a degree but now im doomed to a life of debt because of unfair tuition prices. What part of me, and millions of other college students, speaking out against that unfairness is stupid?
How the fuck does someone's money have anything to do with the fact that they are against the bullshit that goes on around them!? And they didnt fire the president he quit!! Guest you don't know what the fuck you are talking about! And what the hell do you mean "if you dont want a degree dont go to college" !? No one said that they dont want one!
My point is that there are 2618 universities in the United States. If you want a degree, I'm sure there are hundreds of schools you can go to. You don't have to go to a private school that costs $50,000 a year. You can get just a good an education, because learning at college is all what you make of it. Someone who works hard at a junior college could learn a lot more than someone who isn't doing anything other than showing up at Stanford.
