as a society we tend to recognize that bad things are worse when they happen to children, but then we belittle children who announce that they feel suffering....

To also be fair we don't know if the said 14 yo was just saying that or truly went through something
Most people who are raped, sexually abused, physically abused, or verbally abused face there problems as children. Why do you have to minimize others problems?
Personal Rant: I had a lot to forget when I was 4, let alone 14. You cannot judge someones past based soley on how long they have lived. My abuse and exploitation occurred when iI was only 4 years old, and continued for a long time, because I was young and did not know what was right and wrong, and was easily manipulated to remain silent. That's why those who are abused are usually children. Although social media is an immature outlet, you're immature at 14. Perhaps we should be focusing on how to heal people, rather than judging them for having an issue despite their number of years on this planet. End rant haha
I know a lot of people who by 14 were abused, depressed, raped, cut or tried to commit suicide. Might be young but people still have things going on in their lives and we can't put down those problems just because they're 14. If those people were 18 or 25 or etc, people would consider those problems and recognize them. Just saying, don't assume someone's life is amazing just because they're younger.
To be fair 14 year olds have it pretty hard. Mental illnesses develop when you're young but you start to notice it one you get around that age. It gets stronger and you almost always notice it. I don't really know how to explain it. I'm 14. I have anxiety and depression. I was verbally abused as a child and still am. I'm afraid to talk. When you're this age people just say, "I've been through the same thing" or "you'll get over it" I've had anxiety for a very long time and depression for two years. My amazing friend talked me into asking for a councillor so I asked my school councillor. She got me a liaison worker. She gave me colouring pages and told me to get a therapist. I asked my mom for a therapist. She ignored me. Now she says she's going to send me to a hospital if I don't "get ahold of myself" she doesn't know about the depression but my anxiety is so bad she wants to send me to a hospital for that alone. So yes, I would love to forget my horrible child hood.

Well it still doesn't justify drinking that can damage your body and brain as much if not more than anxiety and depression plus alcohol is bad for depression. ..
i just really need to point out a guy named stoner saying something doesnt justify alcohol. not to make a TRUE point but because it gave me a light hearted giggle in the midst of a somber topic.
