But eventually she did actually realise she loved peeta.
No she never loved peeta. She was using him to stay alive but all of the acting and stuff caught up to her when he was kidnapped and brainwashed and then she felt bad bc he had been through so much for her sake that she couldn't let that debt go unpaid and convinced herself that she loved him and got married to him and stuff
Okay, i'm about to drop a spoiler so don't read if tou haven't seen mockinjay part two/ read the book.
So, there was a line that was said both in the books and the movie but was kinda overlooked in the last one. One peeta and gale are talking in tigris' basement, gale finishes the conversation saying "katniss will choose whoever she needs to survive" (or something like that) not to live, to survive. I remember katniss being quite astonished by his choice of words in the next chapter. Then right before the ending of the last chapter, she says "what i need to survive isn't gale's fire, fed with anger and hatred. What i need is the promise that life can continue despite how painful our losses are, that life can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that." And then she goes on to say that's the reason she answered that she loved him. So, no, she probably didn't love either of them, or at least not peeta, she chose the one she needed to "survive"
anyone here fell in love with Finnick and hated collins for killing him???? that's the only part I actually cared about. oh and the fire dress and tree cake decoration. that's it!!
