It's more convenient if Apple changed because everyone already used universal. It would be a lot easier to find a charger if everyone has the same one as you
While this does seem to be true, it seems much more likely that Apple will just not sell iPhone in Switzerland. It's unlikely that they would sell a special version with a universal charger for Switzerland, and it's also unlikely that they'd make all iPhones have universal chargers, just because of this regulation.
.
When it comes to money, what they'd lose in not selling to Switzerland (population around 8 million) is probably a lot less than the cost of using a universal charger. Remember, Apple makes money every time you buy one of their fancy lightning cables!
.
While I agree that Apple should switch to universal chargers, Switzerland just isn't big enough to push Apple to make that change. Apple will just say "Hah suck it Switzerland".
The current Apple Lightning charger is vastly superior to micro USB cables, which is why Apple doesn't use them. The current USB cables can either charge OR sync information, while the lightning cable can do both. The type-c USB has this capability, I don't see Apple caving to the Swiss.
Vastly superior? I think not. Just how often do you sync your phone though? The lighting cable is just an early version of usb-c. Now android has perfected it and is phasing it into the next generation of tech.
No clue I don't care about macbooks. And I believe it was a joint effort between a number of companies, which may include apple Im not certain. Point is, usb c is better than lightning now.
Other than the data transfer speed (which no computer can utilize right now), type c isn't much more advanced than lightning. But the reason Apple doesn't use usb is because lightning is superior to use 3.0.
They don't use usb because they're too stuck up to use anything universal. They have to be special... And usb C can charge another phone off of a phone, supports powerful quickcharging, and is more durable than lightning. USB C is better. and that's BS that no computer can utilize the transfer speeds.
New solid state drives can get 2.5 Gigabytes per second, and theyre only getting faster. The thing with the usb c is that it's prepared for the future.
