Soldiers and police officers do this every day, I'm not saying he's not a hero, because he very much is, but there are many people out there who would make the ultimate sacrifice, and who do. It is only a matter of being faced with that choice.
So they force people to become police, military, firefighters, etc? In the US, it is a choice. They choose to do it for their job on a daily basis, get paid shit, and very few people give them respect and many are openly hostile to them for things they have nothing to do with. I agree with celticrose, just expanding the point.
Its so stereotypical of people to say that a feminist would get mad because she could save herself. This isn't a matter of gender inequality, its an act if kindness and love and sacrifice. Anyone who would get offended by this in anyway and saying that it makes women look weak is an idiot. Shannon did an an act of human kindness and is a lifesaver. That does not mean that the woman is in any way weak because he helped saved her life, it takes lots of strength to survive too. Lets just appreciate what he did.
Seriously? Why does everyone always have to bring feminism into every post? I swear most of you here are more obsessed with feminism than actual feminists.
