If you're in college or in highschool then good luck lol your chances are 10%. If you're already accepted to med school good luck you still have a 15% chance on making it (that's being optimistic). If youre on your last year of med school then ok you're 80% chance of making it. Otherwise, don't tell anyone you want to be a surgeon. It is highly unlikely you'll make it (realistically of course).
O yeah and it is not rewarding. That has to be your guilty passion. Your life's dedication. The studying never ends. NEVER. Money will come but you won't enjoy it until you retire.
It takes a lot of guts to go for a difficult path in life, and tell people what you're planning. It doesn't take much of anything to be a naysayer. When you see somebody on a harsh path, there's a nice way and a cruel way to say anything, you chose the cruel way, part of which, if not all (I'm not going to check your statistics) was your negative opinion on the situation.
Ninjo, you probably have already looked at the time and commitment that path takes. Good luck to you, and I hope you don't let nameless pessimists on the internet get to you.
Guest, I said I want to be a surgeon not that I will be a surgeon. Also where did you get those statistics from?I may not become a surgeon but I do plan to go to med school and become a doctor of some sort.I am aware it is difficult and requires patience, intelligence, skills ,passion, social skills, etc.I'm improving and I am determined to achieve this. Also the way you describe it is a bit too harsh and who knows, maybe I will be one of those 10%.Surgery is difficult but I'm intelligent and learn fast and I'm quite sure I'll manage. Also I where I live being a surgeon is not like doctor House or something where you have to puzzle what's the condition of a patient.I'm in highschool(best one in my country) so I'm pretty sure I'll make it through med school and continue learning. Also I don't have any idea what to do if I don't follow this path.Thanks.Now go do something productive. My usually pessimistic mind already told me it's gona be hard.
Hey man sorry if you misunderstood me. I wish some one wold have told me this when i went in the medical field. I never said you cant do it. I simply drew you a crystal clear picture of what it takes. A well warned soldier does not lose in battle. But hey then again I'm a complete stranger and what do I know.
Depends where minimum wage is at (since it is a defining number for cost of living) and the equivalence or work between a hospital CEO and other admin compared to nurses. That usually gives a pretty go picture of how fair it is.
This is why I'm going to begin college to get my nursing degree this autumn...scared as hell to graduate and go to college, but I want to help people. I'm hoping, this is my 'how'. Those who wake up and do this every day, you are truly heroes, and I can only aspire to do what you guys do every day <3
I am a nurse. It is nice to read about the appreciation this husband has for what his wife does. I think any nurse can appreciate this. Thank You for showing appreciation. We as nurses do not get it very often. Remember to tell your nurse she is appreciated today!
I agree. My daughter law went off, ON 4yrs. While going for teacher credentials too. NOW both licensed. I adore her will 2 stick with them. Debbie Denny in LA. PROUD of u. I pray 4 a non-partisan nurse. Met 2. ONE at Sharp clinic, IN GYM for an older , great Dr. He was so approachable and helped me not knowing how that nurse, A Hispanic turned her facial feelings toward me. So uncomfortable. I wanted 2 return to him specifically, but not her assist with me. THIS IS a quiet kept KNOWLEDGE by brown SKINS. SAD. FELT IN 2MANY OFFICES AND SERVICES 2 PATIENTS.
As a nurse myself, I completely know what she goes through. I read what you wrote about her and it brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful man she has for a husband, most people can never understand what we go through every shift nor would they even try to understand.
PRINT HIS REMARKS OF LOVE AND SUPPORT OF HIS NURSE/WIFE/MOM, LAY IT WHERE HE CAN SEE IT. OR JUST ANON A COPY TO HIM BY MAIL. WISH I HAD BECOME A NURSE OR ASSISTANT. MOST NURSES ARE JUST AWESOME. IT HELPS US WHEN WE MEET THAT SPECIAL ONE. THANK U.
Dam Straight she's a hero. And don't doubt for a minute that there aren't many many people out there that appreciate her caring and kindness and wish her well. I know I do and I have never met her.
My mother was a radiologist, has saved many lives at the hospital she worked at. One of the most memorable was a person walking with what seemed like a friend of his supporting him, clearly in exponential pain, the person saying he needed help immediately. He got into the worse side of a T-bone car crash, and her job was to scan him to see where they needed to operate, replace or remove. It was a miracle he was alive, a majority of his ribs were badly broken (one of them almost powderized it was broken so bad), lots of internal bleeding, and 2 ribs punctured a lung. His skull was cracked, and his stomach had 2 or 3 lacerations. If he came a few minutes later, he would've died. Miraculously, he survived and had to be kept for half a year. He was immensely grateful for everybody at the hospital, and the person who got him there (who turned out to be the cause of the accident).
God bless her and take care of her and fam because of what she does for others. It's a real sacrifice and a calling. In this world, you reap what you sow.......MAY SHE REAP BLESSINGS.AMEN.
