Haha: D one could argue that. But I know for example that I'm not exactly street smart or when it comes to reading other people I can be quite oblivious. Everyone has different strengths
Sounds like the people who are bad at school are feeling a bit jealous... Honestly, what does comprehending and being interested in particle physics have to do with following orders?
I believe they're criticizing the system that teaches these subjects, rather than the subjects themselves. I agree with it to a certain extent and I'm a university graduate.
its also saying that students aren't encouraged to think of new ideas or explore ideas creatively, but instead to just memorize information and repeat it later.
Exactly, which to some degree it is true, it is often encouraged (at least in undergraduate level) to regurgitate information in order to achieve marks, it isn't until there is more freedom at graduate level that one can explore ideas (or at the very least new perspectives) on most subjects. We are taught to follow the ways of things as they are.
Wrath, I agree with you but I think you're giving the OP way too much credit. There are a hundred different ways to word it if they were complaining about the system and not the people in it. This was not one of them.
If you get your degree, you are statistically likely to make 1.3 million more over your lifetime than non graduates... Also, you can use it as a time to expand your mind to new ideas in an atmosphere where debate is encouraged and backing yourself up with facts is expected... Stop sh**ing on education!
Modern education: you either get it by being rich or in debt or you don't get it at all
