The thing is, fraud is illegal. Turning a profit is not. Jacking up the price of the AIDS drug by 5000% was ridiculous and greedy, but technically what he did was just a part of the market economy. While I don't think there is a person in the world who likes him, arresting someone for being a greedy asshole isn't a part of the justice system, but indictment for a white collar crime like mass fraud is. Let's just be grateful that he was arrogant enough and greedy enough to think that he would get away with more crimes. Whether they were legal or illegal.

(This is all offhanded and from shaky memory so sorry if I get anything/everything wrong)
In other industries doing something like that is called price gouging, which is illegal. For some reason we have an exception for pharmaceutical companies *cough cough* CITIZENS UNITED *cough cough* and remember too, he could have been accused of having a monopoly. Since he was the only one with any form of aids treatment. (again remember that this is all from shaky memory please don't yell at me ;n;)
1. The "rich people" include the pension funds that invest in stocks, and people who are paying for their own retirement via their IRAs and 401ks.
2. If this issue is so important, why don't all you concerned people join together to buy the patent rights on AIDS drugs and then give them away? Why do you insist that *other* people have to price their property to your liking? Of course the guy's a douche, but again, why is he obligated to price something he owns to someone else's approval?
