Exactly. Is the base of the first crane enough to hold down the extended weight of the other cranes though?

base doesn't matter if the bottom crane has a counterweight. Unless you're talking about the sheer strength needed without collapsing?

That IS the counterweight. Is there enough counterweight on it to withstand it? I've seen something that looked equal but it wasn't, and this doesn't look equal on top of the sheer reach of all of the cranes
