I'm almost 100% sure that the "kindergarten story" is a lie

Probably not. We are Jewish and when my kids first heard about Santa, about 6 or so, they swore never to tell the neighborhood kids. They first heard about him when an old lady kept asking them if they were excited about Santa, and I had to explain who Santa was.

again...probably not. It's not just my children who protect the Christian children. Before I had children I went to a "holiday" party on Christmas Eve and there were a few Jewish kids there. The Jewish kids were showing the Christians how NORAD tracks Santa on radar and other really cute things. Around 11 PM when the parents were trying to get the children to leave the the Jewish kids said they were Santa's sleigh. That got the kids out very quickly.
