I've heard such. I always hear arguments for how satisfying it is to drive manual but the only argument for automatic is that it's more convenient. What's so amazing about manual that trumps convenience?
Knowing how to drive manual is also convenient though. If somehow you're ever in a situation where you need to drive somewhere & the only car available is a stick shift car, you won't make it very far if you can't drive a manual. But really driving stick is just more fun. After driving stick, driving automatic is just boring :/
I know how to drive a stick shift but have to drive anauto now. My back can't cope with the pumping of the clutch pedal. Turns out driving a lot with a clutch does harm your back and back problems from its use ismore common than I thought.
No it's because most of us can't drive a manual. Those few of us left on the endangered species list also give it a wiggle before letting out the clutch.
A lot of the older generations, my parents included, know how to drive stick they just choose not to. My parents, almost all of my aunts and uncles and my grandparents originally learned stick but drive an automatic today. I could never learn stick because the last time we had a stick was my dad's old pickup which he got rid of years ago
Actually it's a bit snug. Don't make me have to crank up the tin lizzy and drive over there and do the Charleston on your ass, you young whippersnapper!
