Looks most definitely do and should matter regardless of social standards. Looks have always mattered. It's just that society takes the standards and pushes them to contradictory and absurd levels.
someone could be a lovely person but look like Quasimodo got hit with lava and acid and have bad BO and have worms crawling out their ears. Sure they're nice to be around. For a few minutes.
You should care if you are clean and healthy, yes, but you shouldn't care about if you are pretty or not. Work on your personality instead of ur face. If someone is very ugly, but has an amazing personality, their looks won't matter anymore to you if you are good friends, and you won't see the person so ugly anymore
I don't think it's one or the other. It's kind of a mixture of both. You can fall in love at first sight and get to know someone and fall in love over time.
Guys can wear makeup, I've met a few that do. Quit your bitching and go buy some foundation if you think it will boost your confidence, it's almost 2016. You do what you gotta do to feel good about yourself and if somebody else whines about you spending your own money on Physician's Formula, fuck 'em.
That's right that "society" defines how women should look a certain way. But don't forget that women are 50% of "society." Also, I've noticed that women are a lot harder on other women who don't conform to their preferred standard of dress, makeup and behavior than men are.
