I've seen Shakespeare translated into these weird dog/mouse things, a straight up graphic novel, Lego, and many other versions. They really aren't that bad for getting the big picture without the monologues and soliloquies
I would love to disagree with you by using the statement that I think this type of translating the original text into this kind of abomination destroys a work. But, if this is intended as a stepping stone and "younglings" are expected to and do move on to the original text as they mature in their reading and comprehension, then I can see it's purpose.
You all act more uptight about this that Shakespeare would've. He wouldn't even care he was to busy making dick jokes he would find it hilarious that anyone takes his works seriously.
Hmmm ... human dilemmas expressed in language that makes it accessible to the average person while employing humour to convey an underlying message ... I wonder what someone like Shakespeare would think of that?
Also good for getting younglings interested in classic literature.
