A lot of schools teach sex education but they don't teach about the menstrual cycle until the children are around 10-12, so it must have been before she was taught
my parents didnt tell me either. wasnt spoken about at home or in schools. i beljeve its changed though and they are informing students. its assumed thats the parents responsibility but parents tend to wrongly assume theyll learn about it in school and attempt to save themselves the embarassment of the talk.

Yeah, there tends to be a general course on sex ed that covers menstruation around 5th or 6th grade, which is about 10 or 11. So it must have hit her before the sex ed was scheduled.
My school never had sex Ed in those grades. I didn't learn sex Ed till I was in highschool. I'm also Canadian though, and a period I wasn't directly told about. I just knew what it was somehow
I'm male and I knew about periods since I was 6/7. It didn't really shock or surprise me though, I just wondered why there were pads all over the house
I live in Europe and never heard of periode before...
