Creation of mountains and islands

then sooner or later countries would fight over the ownership of that island... *sigh

I'm not 100% sure, but I think an eruption large enough to literally make an island like that would have generated waves that would have swamped the boat. Hell, the Hawaiian islands take hundreds of years to make (a new island. they've been being made for hundreds of thousands)
