It's more of a fun tradition than one taken seriously. It's more of "oh ahha maybe the groundhog will predict if this eternal winter will end before like April" not "all hail groundhog, who predicts weather completly accurately" hahha
"97% of scientists agree that Climate Change is real and a threat and . . . "
"The assertion that 97% of scientists believe that climate change is man-made and an urgent problem is a fiction. In May Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute, cited the Zimmerman/Doran survey in which, out of 3,146 respondents, only 79 listed climate science as an area of expertise. Hardly 97%. “Surveys of meteorologists repeatedly find a majority oppose the alleged consensus,” noted Bast."
Or how about,
"In February, Patrick Moore, a Canadian ecologist, a co-founder of Greenpeace, a militant environmental group which he left in 1986, told members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee “There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years.”"
Yeah, I'd rely more on the Naked News than these so-called scientists getting paid millions to support the biggest hoax in history.
Its not 97% of ALL scientists, its 97% of all scientists publishing studies on fucking climate change. Most scientist who are sceptical of human influence on climate change are actually NOT meteorologists. The idea that a climate change lobby gets paid millions is nice.... why would big business, suspect #1 of CAUSING climate change pay for people backing the claim they are constantly denying? How does that make sense? http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-scientific-consensus.htm
You do realize that site is funded by the same guys who think global warming is real? Of COURSE they're going to try and talk down. I've read that article multiple times, and still haven't seen the whole truth from it. If it isn't the whole story, then it's an unproven theory at best, and a lie at worst.
Think about it. Of all those scientists that agree with climate change, all of them are funded by government monies, to tell people what they want to hear. That's proof? Give me a million dollars and I'll say climate change is real, too!
"There is no funding to maintain Skeptical Science other than Paypal donations - it's run at personal expense. John Cook has no affiliations with any organisations or political groups. Skeptical Science is strictly a labour of love. The design was created by John's talented web designer wife." - Its funded by private persons who think global warming is real. Now, who is funding the sites that state global warming was a lie? You've "read that article multiple times" ? Wow, what a feat. And still haven't "seen the whole truth (lol) from it"? Oh, wotta bummer. Maybe its because you have no fucking clue what you're talking about, because you are no scientist and have no expertise whatsoever in this field? Remember: 97% of all publications by experts in this field come to one conclusion. Thats a falsifiable fact, if you know, what that is. How about you go looking for someone to give you a million dollars for telling a lie? You may find this easier said than done.
Global warming is as much a religion as Buddhism. It has long ago left the "scientific community" and is now nothing but politics and personal enrichment. The fact that so many non-scientists get so emotionally invested in any discussion, especially when presented with contrary arguments, makes this no different than Christianity vs Islam.
Says the expert on what exactly? Look, buster, I'm not claiming any expertise here, it's not ME trying to argue here with the 97% of people who know what they're talking about, out of dull spite, pathetic hubris and breathtaking dumbassery. How about you? Well, it goes to show actually, as you're comparing this to the difference between two psychopathic, unreal systems of belief without any backup whatsoever, when the comparison should of course be atheism to religiousness. You haven't got any clue whatsoever, what science really is, have you?
Oh, and it's quite arguable whether Buddhism is essentially a religion, even when most buddhist practises are... whatever...
As I said-emotions. This example of an emotionally invested fs user makes my point by resorting to childish name calling when experiencing an opposing point if view. I assume from the rhetoric that this user is quite angry at my assertions, as well. This is religious extremism.
You don't have an "opposing point of view", you're an intellectual trainwreck (<-- now thats name calling btw). My emotion reading your postings is pretty much the same as watching Laurel & Hardy trying to carry that piano up the steps: even when I see it a million times, its always fucking hilarious. Talking about Schadenfreude ;) Keep up the good work!
I had to analyze this movie for a paper once... I had to watch it 5 times which was pretty much like watching it 20 times. The teacher trolled me hard.
