Except, if the tongue does the tasting it can't taste itself, like the eyes do the seeing, but they don't see themselves. .. does that make sense? Like if you rolled your tongue and the taste buds were pressed onto one another than yes.... but other than that, what you're actually always tasting is your spit...

Add-on to what captain_sparrow said...The reason we don't taste our tongues it because our tongues aren't being digested by the saliva, and then being broken down so our tongue can taste itself. It would be a very big worry if you could taste your tongue.
