But...but why? What purpose could giving a stake to that dog possibly serve? Unless the dog is a vampire slayer, then it's a perfectly valid gift.

The crazy thing is her family had only known she was missing a few days. The father had gone out of town and the mother and grandma thought she'd tagged along. It wasn't until they spoke to the dad that they realized the truth.
