There was a CSI episode about a chimera. The guy's sperm and blood had different DNA.

If you're a twin, doesn't that mean you have the same DNA?

Why not? And don't pull fraternal twins on me because you know damn well I'm talking identical twins.

Identical twins have the same DNA because they formed from a single zygote that split to become two fetuses. They came from the same egg and the same sperm. Chimeras occur when there are two separate zygotes, different egg and sperm, and they merge to form one embryo.

So yes identical twins have the same DNA. But you're saying a chimera is when fraternal twins become one?

Would a uterus transplant have the same effect? The first one done in America happened a couple weeks ago.

No, because the embryo does not receive any genetic material from the uterus.

Look up "gestational surrogate" it'll explain quite a bit about how you can carry a baby for someone else and not be related.

Yes, she did. But, the courts only believed her after someone was sent to witness her third child being born (she was heavily pregnant) and see that the baby immediately got a blood test- one that also did not match Lydia's DNA.

We read an article about this in Forensics class. Chimera people are more likely to develop auto immune disorder- where the immune system attack the body's own cells because it doesn't recognize them and declares the cells a threat. Having two different DNA in the body causes the immune system to attack cells with one set of DNA because it only recognizes cells with the other DNA

When they said chimera, did anyone think FMA or Fullmetal Alchemist?
