But remember Newton's third law of motion. I use it all the time in my social dealings. Respond with equal and opposite force. Only be that way if he's being douchey or rude about it. If someone is nice to you then they deserve that back. Even if you reject them.

Well, most cultures have a version of that. But western culture's comes from Jesus.

Yes but I specifically chose to use science instead of Jesus because science is a constant, but people can't be counted on to not be assholes. So be like science!
