Great writer... but this quote is the kind of recentering our culture needs. We throw around the word freedom like it is a right, but really freedom is a responsibility.

One of the guys I was named after. Newton and Asimov. And people always assume it is biblical, which is kind of ironic.
I am not a grammar /spelling troll, but since you are complaining about someone else's use of language:
1. In this case you should be using "it's", because it is a contraction. "Its" is the possessive form of it.
2. Dumb is actually a slang term, unless you are referring to an inability to speak. Slang is normally considered acceptable in casual language, unless you set up the rule that people can not use slang terms like "homeboy".
3. Grammatically, the verb should be "perpetuating", because you used it as a verb of movement, also know as the gerund.
