True. I know it is a joke and that is the point but I am surprised no one got offended... I wonder why too. I wouldn't and it is not "black face" but yeah I know what you mean
It's a white man pretending to be black. This sort of thing has caused lawsuits and boycotts in the past.
Just to be clear I'm not saying people should have raised hell. I liked the movie and I like Robert Downey Jr. I'm just surprised he got away with it. I also liked White Chicks and all of the Wayans brothers are funny, but I wasn't surprised there was no uproar about that one.
People where not offended. He is not an actor in black face, he was playing an actor, playing arrogant prick of an actor who was wearing blackface. In fact the joke was about meathod acting going too far. It was openly acknowledged in the movie that it was insane for him to be pretending to be black and an actual African American character was there to point out what a tool he was being.
Totally agree with you guesswho and also white chicks comment. And I understand why RDJ was not offensive. But honestly some people get offended even before watching the movie so that's why I am still surprised.
Yep. I loved both movies but I fully expected to hear bitching and moaning about RDJ's character. I was pleasantly surprised that it never happened. I didn't expect anything out of White Chicks, just because no none seems to get upset about "making fun" of us white people. I actually do remember some group trying to start a ruckus about White Chicks (probably those idiots at Westboro Baptist or the KKK or some such BS, I don't recall) but no one took them seriously.
I had both movies until I got divorced, I should get them again.
Aww sorry you lost them. But yup I agree. Sometimes i feel kinda bad that lately people just bash white people. I mean I get it but geez sometimes is feels like too much. I normally don't get easily offended but one day it really bothered me that bill maher made a joke about marco rubio, saying he was a mariachi singer. I think bothered me because Bill is soooo liberal and against ravism and blah blah but he can say a joke that is just another generalization (all latinos are mexican) and it is fine? It it was any other race or nationality would be uproar. So i get you.
