Chronicles of Narnia was AMAZING. I have to say, out of a bunch of books, that one really captured me and transported me to another world. I also got a lot into classics because of this book.
I also managed to read (and understand) Merchant of Venice when I was 8, it remains one of my favourite Shakespeare plays to date. It made me want to go to Venice. I was obsessed.

I love pride and prejudice and the Sherlock Holmes novels. I love classic literature though it takes me longer to read than modern books so I usually only do it when I have free time, like winter break or over summer

Have you seen the movies of Jane Austens novels?

I've only seen P&P, it's one of my fave chick flicks
The Velveteen Rabbit. It made me think about how some of the most beautiful people areb't "real," but less attractive people might have the loveliest souls.
Water Babies, Anne of the Green Gables and Mary Poppins. The last two were mostly because they had like adult women that reminded me of my aunt that babysat me when I was younger. ((I got really attached to her. She's still my favourite aunt.))
For the australians here i think the best books growing up were the just annoying and just stupid, etc. series by Andy Griffiths. he also wrote the day my bum went psycho. i don't know how many times i thought it would be a good idea to fill all the gaps in the shower door and try to fill it up and have an awesome shower bath. hmm now that im older i think i may be about to pull it off...
Some of the stuff he narrated was pointless though that's why I thought it dumb. Even as a 16 year old I thought it was (I first read them when I was 9)
@yecharon You mean when he talked to the readers? I actually found that very quaint, but then again I read the books I think between 7 and 9 years of age (and unfortunately I never finished them and read only like 4 or 5 of them and skipped over some as they were quite hard to find in my country), so I didn't notice all the mistakes, and I probably won't open them now because it'd ruin the nostalgia. But there were some interesting moments, such as when he covered a whole page with "very"s or wrote a page twice while talking about deja vu.
@elynnated and avengerrox1 Oh yeah, I'm really excited for that. Although I quite liked Jim Carrey in the movie, NPH looks hella awesome as Olaf.
I read all of them when I was younger then remember the last book coming out when I was 10. Yes I mean when he talks to the reader he does drift from the topic quite a bit. Movie was alright but they only based it on the first three books so was quite disappointing.
Have none of you read the 'Deltora Quest' series? The first batch, each book the characters had to find a lost gem in each section of their land which would fit into the belt that gives power to the King.
Same.
