I didn't disagree with adding stuff from the appendices, but it just got further and further from the book, and more and more over the top.

True, but movies also need to remember that books are popular for a reason, and not lose the best parts of the books.

And in a lot of cases they completely butcher the plot >cough<Percy Jackson>cough<

OMG, tooooo true! Percy J and the Sea Monsters... I wish we can throw the producers on the quest themselves, and where are my chanting sirens?!!!! *sob*
