What if you just like, suddenly forgot how mid-flight? Like sometimes I'm walking and midstep I'll just be like "Oh shit how do I even--" and stumble and fall. If that happened when you were flying imagine how terrifying that'd be

Sometimes. It's like how sometimes I'll be reading and then the words stop making sense, or writing and I'm just like "fuck, I know this word but how do you spell it, how do I make my hand make the right shapes to express this concept in my head". It's weird.

I have no idea tbh. I'm only 19 so I doubt it's my age, but who knows for sure?

Considering it is more a fear of "falling" than a fear of heights, being able to fly would effectively eliminate that fear. This would require practice but would (hypothetically) be a very good way of facing your fears.
