Older calculators do not use PEMDAS (parenthesis, exponent, multiply, divide, add, subtract, in that order when doing a math problem) newer calculators can account for that. Whithout using this method and using this method give 2 different answers but only the one using PEMDAS is correct
They both did PEMDAS. The first one did it wrong. It added (1+2) first but then multiplied 2*3 to get 6. 6/6 is 1. That's how I learned it in school yeeeaaars ago.
NOW, it's a little different. It's more like P,E,(MD),(AS). In my kids' classes they are taught that (MD) and (AS) are done in order from left to right. So that's what the second one did.

Multiplication and Division are on the same level. Don't pick division of Multiplication
