I moved out a few days after I got my diploma. Been on my own for 9 or 10 months and the only thing that's really bothered me was knowing all my books are on the other side of the country.
Dad: Hey teenager of mine, come help me change the tire on the car (which i paid for, pay to insure and do maintenance on, but is usually called "your car" because your mother and I got it so you could travel conveniently)
Teenager: <eye roll>
Dad: Hey Teenager, come help me fix the water heater.
Teenager: Ughhhh...daaaad...I'm doing homework (continues to do 10 minutes of homework that stretches out to two hours because of simultaneously being on phone, surfing web sites, answering texts, and watching a movie).
Dad: Hey teenager, come with me to help a friend put in a deck, then we'll grill some steaks on his gas grill.
Teenager: But daĆ ad, I have stuff I have to do.
Also teenager: Nobody ever teaches us important life skills!
