When my daughter was 5 we were at walmart and she spotted a woman who was blind with a service dog. It had a little vest on saying it was indeed a.service dog. So I took the opportunity to explain the dog to my daughter. I said hello to the woman and asked if she mind if I tell my daughter about the dog. The woman was actually so happy I asked she said in stores she sometimes has to force parents to get their kids away from the dog.
I told my daughter that this dog is a special dog he is a dog with a job. His job is to help the lady in any way he can to make it easier for her. So we must never call out to the dog or try to pet it. If you see a doggy with a vest like his you must leave it alone you can look but never touch. Unless the person the dog is helping says it is ok. The woman said it was right and than she askes my kid if she wanted to pet him. And I love my kid for this. She pet the dog and said you do a good job. Good job doggy.
Ty lol I always try to educate her any chance I get. Like when we at the grocery store I point out all the types of fruit and vegetables and tell her their name how they grow and where they are from. We live near alot of farms so if we see animals or wild life I explain about them as well. I want her to know all t here is to know so when it comes to the point in her life to decide what to do with her life she know all the options and be ready to make a choice. Right now she still at the why is the sky blue stage. But when she is older I will tell her how taxes work, why we vote, and so on.
So I told her that Captain America and Ariel think I am a good mom and she said "No you are an awesome mom." I asked how come? and she said "BECAUSE you know Captain America and Ariel". lol
Worry not friendos! I have an assistance dog that failed the guide dog program, and in talking to the people who run Guide dogs found out that while they are at home guide dogs get all the love they deserve!
*hand twitches*
