I think it has to do with how the excretory system converts waste. More energy is put in processing for more liquid waste, and less energy is needed for more solid waste. Of course I could be totally wrong. This is barely remembered information from my bio class last year

I believe to do with the animal's diet. If it contains a lot of fibre, the dump will be huge and quite tough, if little fibre is present, the waste is quite soft. In the case of rabbits, their poop is digested twice as rabbits don't get all the necessary nutrients in one go, so the remaining fecal matter is quite little as most has been digested.

What the fuck does this have to do with anything? A nuclear physicist doesn't need to know about poop and a gastroenterologist doesn't need to know nuclear physics.
