Is swooping season really a thing that is as horrible as described on tumblr? Some of those stories make it sound like you can't talk a foot outside your front door without getting attacked by a mob of birds

As another Aussie, can confirm. Magpies will often just set up nests in the middle of public areas and swoop any who come near. Beware.
