She isn't talking about the small minority of feminists who are doing something about it, she's talking about the other 95%. Btw 95% is just a number I picked at random, I don't know the real percentage.
yeah, so a number you picked by an opinion isn't really valid. What evidence do you have that actually supports your opinon? NOT tumblr or fb posts you pull out, but actual feminists advocates and activists. A lot of this video was opinion based, and doesn't show many sides to the story. Redroses absolutely has a point
Yes to supporting women worldwide. No to blaming rape on Muslim men. No to claiming that Islamic and Western cultures are completely unable to coexist.
I see your point but this, exactly this, is why this culture clash and positive discrimination to refugee criminals are happening. "Don't blame them just because they're from a different culture!", say a lot of people. But their culture views women as inferior. That's the problem here and it was very well explained in the video. Their culture views women as a commodity. No to blaming rape on Muslim men, but also no to shutting your eyes from statistics that say that x% of recent rape cases were men from the Middle East. No to positive discrimination, no to letting our culture be stomped by theirs for the sake of political correctness.
Also, it's not about religion but rather about where the people come from. Demographics, geography, whatever you want to call it. Believing in Allah, God, or any pagan religion doesn't make you have different values as long as you live among people whose culture isn't oppressive. Culture =/= religion even though they're often intertwined.
You're not. And you know it, so lie the non muslims some more like your god (quran calls "The Great Deceiver") & holy book instructs you to (Quran 3:54, 8:30, 9:3, 10:21, 16:106, 40:28 and more). You dont want to and aren't going to because your goal is to make your new land like the one you left.
Sorry dude but your wording is a bit awkward and I honestly have no idea how to respond. I'm not trying to insult your grammar or anything, I just legit have no idea what you're talking about. Please explain so we can have a nice discussion?
What this video continues to assert is that western and Islamic values being different should be argued upon until only one comes out the victor. It is senseless to say that Islamic values are inhumane and unjust whereas the morals held by all the people that happen to live in the west are in the right. The religion itself does not oppress women and it's wrong to imply as such. The women who do choose to be Muslim don't deserve to be riduled or belittled because of thier beliefs. If you want to have an open discussion on religions feel free to do so but there is no need to act condescending towards a party just because thier beliefs are diferent from yours. The crime rate would have increased even if the immigrants would have come from any part of the world because it's not easy to moniter large movements such as these. Security issues do arise when known criminals become anonymous and charge free as they move to a new place. Islam isn't the scape goat you need to blame for atrocities.
Additionally I would like to say that the west isn't innocent of such deplirable acts too. Calling the views held by violators of the west as the values held by the entire west would be unjust indeed. The same applies here.
Calling Islamic culture as oppresive impies that you think Islam is the root of all evil. That would imply that you do not have any understanding of the religion itself.
Muslim feminists would love to have western feminists join hands to help thier sisters but that requires of yoi to not dehuminize people along the way. Rather than having a look of pity in your eyes, I hope you try to help women( and men! ) worldwide with some empathy like a true feminist.
The thing is, about Islam, is that it objectively states in the Quran that women are worth less than men. A significant number of Muslims polled believe that sharia law should be implemented, meaning that governmentally women would be worth less than men. How does this not impress women? (Side note: it looks like it hurts her to blink, from the dead state she gives most of the video...)
Perhaps, but Christians aren't trying to pass laws that would make them actually legally inferior. We have learned better. Besides, most of the bad stuff in the Bible is Old Testament stuff, Jesus retconned a lot of it.
Good point. Besides, the reformation of the whole "religion vs science" thing started in Renaissance and continued through the Age of Enlightenment and further, and Western Culture stopped following religion to the letter. So maybe the only difference between Middle Eastern and Western culture is that we don't care about religion all that much.
The woman in this video asks western feminists to make an effort to change the exsisting culture, without realizing that this cannot be so easily done. Most women who are born and raised in Islamic countries are fine with the life they have, and we cannot force them to do things they do not wish to do. If we say, ‘’Take off your headscarf!’’, are we any better than the men who forced them to put the headscarves on in the first place? The world is rapidly changing, and Arabic women are noticing how different western society is. We can aid them in their progress, and help them when they are in distress, but we never be able to change their culture. This is something they must do themselves.
