Euroes don't have much confidence, so we in the land of the free need to be strong enough to take their bullshit, and throw it back into their faces at a time when it will be the most advantageous or amusing.

A) this is a repost. B) every where I have lived they have called it both Fall and Autumn.

Romance languages evolved from Latin, so yeah. If I remember correctly French evolved from "Latin Vulgaire" – common Latin. OP should check their facts before they get rekt.
