To get of at an assigned stop or to get off where ever you like (i.e. any random street corner on the bus' route)?

Wherever you like! There are bus stops still, so people gather there, byt you can still push the button wherever you want to get off and wait for the bus in any point of their route too. I always get off right in front of my school
