At my school they were constantly screwing up paperwork and accusing people of mit having returned books when they had because they were too lazy to do their job right. Also, there was a guy who they tried to keep from graduation over a 2.50 lunch debt. You never know the whole story.
Well of course if you didn't take a book no Grr for you, but if you don't return a book then others can't check it out. The least you can do is pay for it so they can get another one.
Of course if you actually didn't return it. But thats not what I was saying. We had a problem with students going to return books and the lady in the book room telling them to just stack them on a table and leaving them there for days. They would either get stolen from there or put up without being logged in. There about 150 kids in my graduating class who were threatened with not graduating before someone put it together that maybe they weren't the ones at fault.
I have been accused of not returning a book, that I very much did return, and I did pay for it. I love everything about libraries! I love the smell, the atmosphere, just everything. I wouldn't be able to have read most of the stuff I have without them. If someone isn't doing their job they should be fired.
I almost didnt get my cap and gown because the library said i had an overdue book. The thing is, I had never even checked that book out. Also, when i checked the catalog, it said that the book was checked in and available. So i paid the $20 to get rid of the fine and get my clothes. Eventually when they realized their mistake, they refunded me, but it was super frustrating at the time
