I've been in war, I served 8 long years and did tours in Afghanistan and Bosnia. You will never know pain until you hold your brothers hand, telling him he is going to be okay, knowing he is bleeding out. Watching someone take their last breath as you hold your hand over a spurting wound is something I cannot forget, no matter how hard I try. I watched his soul leave his body and it haunts me almost every minute of every day. This brings me 10 times the pain as the lives I took to protect this country and our freedoms.
No words of mine can make you feel better... The only thing I can say is thank you for your service. I wish I was as strong as you to say something to comfort you but I'm not.
