I was against police militarization just awhile ago, but recent events have only proved that police may need to be kitted out like that nowadays.

"militarization" also implies arms, not just armor. If they went around in iron man suits and batons they wouldn't really be "militarized" completely. But I want cops in iron man suits with batons. Because they should be able to jump off a freeway overpass and roll out with a few bruises.

No militarized police. No federal control of police departments.

That too. Although I think that situation would be more appropriately named martial law.

Our police forces have berm receiving military hardware and training for "free" from DHS for ten years now. pplice departments can be strong armed into accepting fed oversight in much the same way states were coerced to adopt the 55mph speed limits. There are DHS liason officers in many departments now. Martial law will not likely be imposed overnight, it will be more like a frog in the stewpot scenario.

Police fatalities have just experienced and almost statistically insignificant rise from a tremendously historic low.
