They have in some high schools, started to have all the students do so many hours of community service. That's a start.

For me though whenever someone makes me do something...I want to do it that much less. I begin to resent it.

But we dont, because this is America. We don't have a conscripted military, because a volunteer military is generally much more effective, we don't have mandatory civil service, because that would infringe upon our right to liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I love you Jon, but think before you talk.

I think he wants ppl do do something for the country (not specifically military) so that we all appreciate the nation we live in, and so that we'd be less likely to let it get fucked up, like we are right now.

I love this idea in theory. I don't think many people knows what it means to be a citizen of this country beyond talking points about freedom and American exceptionalism. However, this nation was built and will thrive or die on volunteerism. By and large, Americans volunteer a lot, but there could always be more.

Welcome to the first annual public services games. it's where once a year we get a certain amount of children and young adults and force them to do something against their will. Welcome to America. Where American's literally try and take away your right to be a free person. *slow claps*

Everyone should be forced to work a year in fast food. Nothing will teach spotting and hating douches and respecting smart, kind people faster. At the very least it would cause the belieber fanbase to leave in droves.
