They do it by weeks because of the rate if development. There is a huge difference in 26-30 weeks, and even 30 and 32 weeeks, a difference which could determine whether a baby survives or not.
Yep... The real problem is when they do that with the already born baby... I understand it the first couple of months but then you can start counting in months and after two years no one cares how many months even
It's completely usual to do it up to 2 or 3 years. It's also because the child develops and changes so fast and has or is supposed to have different abilities every month. So when you tell me your child is 2 years old I have no idea what abilities your child actually has because it could have just turned 2 or it is almost 3 and that is a huge difference in development. It's also to make it easier for people to buy stuff - baby clothes for example show the months, not the years. So you can better calculate if it really fits the child.
Also... at least here in Germany nowadays doctors and pregnancy books are all referring to 10 months of exactly 4 weeks. I can tell you I am 33 weeks + 5 days, which is 9th month in that system. But please don't ask me how many calender months that is... see picture above ;-)
The problem is, talking to people who had a kid a while ago it seems they only startet the 10 months thing recently. So everyone expects you to count in 9 months...
7 1/4 months here
First one?
I just know that 29 rounds down to 28
28/4 (weeks) = 7
7 weeks plus the extra one.
I'm a guy.
