Thank you for this OP.
I actually believe in God, but I don't try to talk about it often because I don't want anyone to feel oppressed or start fights. You guys can do what you want, and I won't care, but don't start something with me, or I won't care.
No.
I won't care.
Tell me about your religion and I won't care.
Tell me you don't believe in my religion and I won't care.
Tell me you hate everyone in your life and I won't care.
The methods and manners were beyond wrong but i can rescue a good message from it: let everyone else believe what they may and don't create fucking wars because of that
Tell me one "religious" war which was for religion. All wars are about power and nothing else. Everything else is an excuse and they are equally pathetic. Otherwise we wouldnt have any wars since the crusades.
When its so easy for leaders to make their followers believe their god(s) want(s) them to do bad shit, isn't that a good argument to get rid of religion all the way?
This is actually a main point of atheists who want to rid the world of religion.
Uhm, one doesn't necessarily have to be a dick about it, but of course it's based on way more valid information not to believe in any higher being than to do so. Will either side ever be able to prove their point beyond any doubt? Most probably not. Does that make both positions equally likely? Most definitely not.
Science has proven thousands of points and will continue to do so, religion nothing. Have you ever heard of a scientific thesis that was disproven by a magic solution? Religion/magic is never the answer. I know reason will never get anywhere with Americans, but one can try.
And Jews and Christians. It's not about religion but about extremism, if you are good and kind your god will help you to go heaven but if you aren't and base it to your religiousness; your god will know how you have been.
TL;DR Be kind to everybody
An estimated 84% of the world identify as religious...30% of those are Christian... 23% are Muslim and 15% are Hindu.... just some numbers for reference.
You must have missed my sarcasm. I was referencing the guest who decided to bash on Americans when talking about religion, which affects the whole world.
Religion is a social construct (bare with me people of faith) so regardless of the existence of the divine, religion itself is a manifestation of the current culture. Even if there were no religion we would still be fighting over food, water, cultural differences, land, power.
Social control, as the result of evolutionary processes is what keeps us from acting up. Religion is always about the distribution of power: there's a higher being up/down/over there, and we're the ones in charge of telling you what he wants. When the shamans turned to priests, it wasn't just about explaining what's going on any more, it became an ever growing set of rules. The few that are needed for a growing society and the more and more complex ones to distribute power and justify rulership. All religions have developed that way.
Being not informed well doesn't equal being ignorant. Refusing to gather information is ignorant and stupid at the same time. Not being stupid doesn't equal being smart. Not being smart doesn't equal being stupid.
Up until the 15 century the brightest minds thought that the earth was flat.Up until the 20 century they thought that the atom was the smallest building block of matter so there is a small possibility of a higher power even though you may not understand it now a being a little older and a little wiser I say even if this entity does exist or not is the best interest if you tread on this matter with a little cation
Of the leading developers of strong theory said that there is, without doubt, a god. He has delved into how the universe works, and decided that it was created.
The more science is uncovered, the more evidence of design there is.
"The more science is uncovered, the more evidence of design there is." Bullshit. Give me one (1) example that deseves the attribute "scientific".
.
And as to that "leading developer" of the string theory: innit funny with bible thumpers? The overwhelming majority of scientists who are atheists are just nothing against that handful who believe in god.
.
Too bad you got fooled: here's an actual christian scientist debunking that Michio Kaku story: http://blog.drwile.com/?p=14864
Here is an example of an asshole who in is free time does research on the internet to diss people who he will probably never cross paths with simply to prove the fact that god does not exist but fail since he is not the first one to do so and wont be the last either.

not informed well = they are ignorant?
How are smart people ignorant?
The more science is uncovered, the more evidence of design there is.
