I feel like suicide squad makes it look like he does really love her, as much as someone like him could...but maybe that story arc is for another movie
The joker loves her, in his own twisted way because 1. He's insane and 2. He never really learned to love anything and he won't admit that he loves her to anyone, even himself. If he didn't care for her he wouldn't have kept her around after they escaped from Arkham
Okay yea, lets say he DOES loves her, but that doesnt make it okay for people to romanticize the way he
1. Manipulates her and literally tries to kill her many times.
2. Abuses her both mentally and physically.
3. Makes her believe that he loves her but he really only has her around for his own enjoyment to mess with
Like you said. Joker never knew nor does he care about love. His main reason of being alive is to mess with Batman.
He doesnt love her at all. He makes her believe that he does sure, but thats just for his own enjoyment.
Yes he did all that stuff but he risks his life for Harley and Basically risked him self to get her. In the comics and sort of in the movie it explains she fell in love with him but he evnetually actually fell in love with her which is what he didn't want to do.
Jeez, i dont even know how to argue with that other than the fact that...Its what he does??? He does it to get her to believe he loves her! He doesnt, but he needs her because hes obsessed!
Before they re-shot a lot of the scenes for the movie he was supposed to more abusive and fight with her a lot more. One example would be the helicopter scene, in the original they were supposed to fight and he pushes her out in anger but they edited it to make it seem like he was saving her. Overall, this relationship is very dysfunctional regardless of whether both are crazy.
I would've actually been more satisfied if they did that. It would have stayed true to how their relationship was originally shown as. I don't think it's a good relationship at all but it adds more depth to both characters that they would still both want to be in this relationship where one is getting abused and the other doesn't really love them but has them around so they're not lonely (it goes much deeper than "lonely" but I'm just simplifying). In Suicide Squad it seemed like what they were going for was that he actually did love her now instead of just saying that he did.
