I'm hoping to become a broadway writer, or a senator (two vastly different things I know) and both of those make great money, and make a lot of friends that do so as well. If I ever went out alone I would leave min 20 dollars regardless of service, and more based on the service. If I have friends with me I'll probabaly pay the bill and everyone else pays for their meal by leaving tip.
Honestly if 1 person is paying the tab I think you should do that anyway

I can't wait to pay for two meals with a 100.00 and tell them to keep the change. Or like, pay with a card and tip the cost of the meal or more.
My grandma actually did this. She busted her ass her whole life (as a nurse) and got a settlement a few years before she died. On a few occasions I was lucky enough to go with her to some shitty little diner or whatever and see some waitress who was dog tired and just trying to make it through her shift only to get a tip that's twice as much as the bill.
