Judging by the equipment around it and the fact that they knew it's age, I'd say they were just tagging it and releasing it

So what they did is they took the liquid from the eye and used carbon dating and other methods to determine the age, this is a Greenland shark and they are now thought to be the oldest living animals.

Biologists are getting really fucking clever. They have figured out how to figure out the exact year a shark was born due to radiation. I'm shit at explaining, but basically depending on what kind of radiation, or lack of, is on a shark, they can easily tell when a shark was born

Omg this is fake guys seriously all these comments. Find a credible source on it before you believe it. One article said it was 29ft long. Which this one clearly isn't.
