"Medievil punishment"? You'll just end up having some wounds, it's not like it's designed to cut off your penis or something. Plus, if you feel that it's an awful punishment, please rethink what it's like to be raped, and if you have more compassion towards the "poor rapist" than the victims of rape, you need psychiatric help.
Honestly, not that bad. It's like getting shots. There's some sting, wait it out, and your done. Those "poor rape victims." Never bothered me, and I was 7.
So you want to kill someone for rape..? You know I understand why you think that. Rape is one of the worst things you can do to a person.
But "Doing something immoral to someone just because they did it first doesn't make you justified.
It makes you immoral." -I don't remember who said this but this is what standing by a princable means. I wish I could kill rapist, too. But actually doing it is another thing. It's the same as breaking the laws of war just because the person you're fighting is doing it. You're still breaking the laws of war.
In my opinion I think it is justifiable in some cases. Definitely not all rape cases, not even most. I think in some situations, far and few between, some individuals are so bad, so evil, that they cannot possibly have any good influence on society, even behind bars, and they need to be rid of from society.
The issue with the death penalty is that you inevidently get the wrong people. It doenst matter how good your justice system is, you ARE going to murder innocent people if you use the death penalty.
This is like a last line of defense. If a man attacked me and I was in fear for my life and carried a weapon (gun, knife), I would use it to defend myself. Could he die? Yes. This is the same sort of situation. It is self defense. He has a much lesser chance of dying from one of these than a different weapon. Frankly though, I would hope it never gets far enough for one of these to be used. It would still be terribly traumatic for the victim.

I like the self defence argument, it is true that he could die from something you do to prevent rape, and while the loss of life is unfortunate, it can be justified. I just don't think anyone should be sentenced to death, no matter how vile they might be.
Except when rapists start checking for them and then just killing the woman wearing instead if she's wearing one. Ooh, or when rape automatically become "her fault" for not wearing one.

Brilliant invention! Too bad we live in a world where this is becoming necessary
