Yes but it's an ethical dilemma. Would you rather have the deaths of five people on your hands, or just one.

Ummm, send it to the side with one person and pull the one person off. Much easier to save one then five.

You can't make up your own rules. The defies the point of the question. Someone will die no matter what you pick.

Yeah and I think the point is you have to alter the course of the train to kill the lone person who would have lived otherwise. Tricky tricky.

I would just run if front of the train. It will stop and if it isn't it's only my life and not other's

No, the train would run you over and keep going to kill the others. A train takes about a mile of breaking to stop completely.

seems no one gets the point of this test. the train is going to hit the 5 people. that would be out of your hands, but you have the choice to change the track. the dilemma here is that YOU have to CHOOSE to kill that one person. this is an effort to actually make the choice. the choice of do nothing and your hands are clean or to choose to take an action that kills someone. it is an old test to understand someones mental state. according to the test i am a psychopath. i wouldn't think twice about changing the tracks and i make the choice to fast. most people would either take a long time to figure it out, or chose to do nothing. few actually can take the steps to take a life to save others.
