Well in a large, open area, the car would gain on the person quickly after starting and the persons best chance would be either to run straight towards something that could get between the car and the person, or in a movie style fashion turn around and side-step the car (which would be hard considering it'd be fast at that point and most cars could quickly turn slightly and change course), or jump on top of our dive underneath the car in an attempt to get out of it initial path. In a smaller, specifically set area, it would be better to turn around corners and other items to gain ground on the car and possibly lose it, so depending on the circumstances, running straight could possibly be most beneficial.
