TO BE FAIR: Hitler didn't cause the Holocaust overnight. He needed the support of is country in order to do something on that big of a scale. HITLER didn't think of himself as evil. He loved animals, was good with children, had a lovely wife and a passion for painting. HE THOUGHT he was doing good for his country. He THOUGHT what he was doing was right.

Don't get me wrong, I don't at ALL agree with what he did, but before the shit got REAL, he was a very successful leader and brought Germany together. TIME magazine noticed the positivity he was spreading and gave him the credit he deserved. People tried to pretend that the Holocaust wasn't happening and that the Jews had it coming, Shit, it took a WORLD WAR to stop him. TIME was most likely one of those groups that pretended everything was all right.

I greatly appreciate your title @boardfast but I know some people will need your post explained.
To be fair there was quite a bit going on in that country that had no clue about what all was going on with the concentration camps. My grandpa talked about his time over there and how a lot of people didnt believe or couldn't believe that it was true. He said some of the German soldiers that were captured by the American soldiers didn't even know. The people thought Hitler was this great person and while he had some redeeming qualities he ultimately was the reason why all of those poor people were killed.
Quick reminder that "Man of the Year" isn't given to just good people. It is given to the most influential and noteworthy individual that year, which Hitler was. He's one of the most significant individuals in the history of the world, and the repercussions of his actions are still being felt more than 70 years after his death.
No I mean when he was declared Man of the Year the Holocaust really didn't start up like it did during World War II, and he had a bangin Olympics. I'm not a Holocaust denier, I actually know history, facts and truth, and also I have a brain that understands basic History.
