I don't think posters are that weird, especially now with EAST classes popping up and giving schools the tools to do them. I DO think it'd be weird to emphasize one ball player over all the others. That shit simply would not fly with parents.

My old school had a giant poster with the top ten students of the senior class but definitely not for sports

My school had giant posters of students. My school was adding another building and the metal sheet/wall things they put up to surrounded and block off the construction had photos of students. But they weren't permanent.
