I mean, the beast was a prince and was raised by humans. Tarzan was literally raised by apes and had no basis in reading whatsoever

yeah I mean the guy literally had a library full of books how is it he couldn't read? That be like collecting a shit load of art supplies yet never learned to draw. Maybe he was just a bad reader but could read.
