I think it depends on their view of "fine". Some leople want new phones once they notice the internet loading slower, their phone doesn't keep up with new apps as well as new phones, or their battery starts to drain faster. Whereas I keep the same phone until the power button doesn't work or it actually breaks somehow. To each their own I suppose

It's a status thing. Gotta have whatever is new.
But I agree with kayt68, it depends on what you consider working fine. For me, it's usually when my phone is starting to act up to the point it's an inconvenience. Like unable to charge/hold charge, consistently freezing up, random restarts and shut downs, home/lock button stops working, etc.

what gets me even more is people are like "oh I wish I could afford a nice vacation" or "I'm so broke" but when the new iphone is out they're waiting outside the door

Most Android distributions are like pre-XP windows: when everything is running fucking slow, reinstall that mother. Also get rid of all the "free" apps and stuff that you pay for with your personal info constantly being posted to a gazillion servers worldwide while using features like GPS. That shit is eating battery power, bandwidth, RAM and processing power.

because an iphone 4 wont support apps like instagram and snapchat now lol its like using ye olde 1900's telephone because it works fine but can you facetime other people or call other people that have cellphones? i think not nigga

My phone screen kept glitching out, going, black, and taking awhile to come back, so I don't know if that constitutes as it being fine. I however am not fine with the fact that my new phone cost $600
