Let's just extend this message to the rest of FS, whether you are a US citizen or international, if you have felt personally affected by any form of stereotype, racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia etc, please know that the rest of us here love and support you and are here for you if needed.
Dear creature of Heaven or Hell...
You suck. You don't matter. You never will. Get over yourself. Don't hurt yourself and don't hurt others. Don't bother yourself and don't bother others. Sit down, shut the hell up, and listen in my class and if you're too immature to do that, don't make it disruptive for anyone else.
Unless youre a white male.....
I understand this was probably meant to make some ppl feel better or safe but imagine if just one of those other groups was left out? How do you think ppl would react? We need to stop glorifying differences that we re BORN with. Its not a special gift to be gay or black or a woman or trans, these ppl are born with these things. We should just accept these differences and stop labelling ourselves like this because we will never have the peace that we all want until we do. We re all human. No matter what little differences there are. Whatever has happened in the past has happened, we re given a chance everyday to make it better.
Dude, no. This message is about reassuring kids who have been told they're unimportant they they have meaning, white kids although special are not reguarly made to feel like shit.
Put it this way, when you're told that a specific part of you is wrong then you need to be told there's nothing wrong about you, white kids don't get told to be ashamed of their skin colour they KNOW there's nothing wrong with being white. POC grow up with people saying they are less than because of skin tone.
Maybe I'm just a richfag and a privilegedfag, but I've seen zero serious discrimination from any authority figure and only play-discrimination from peers (mostly to myself).
Now that I'm an emotionally dead and mentally mature person, I'd love to be discriminated against. It'd be a hilarious episode to see how I handle a month or so of bullshit.
Why do we say "person of color"? Are we referring strictly to black people or does the discrimination also extend to yellows, browns, and reds? Because from my limited exposure to racism, PoC is almost always the PC way of referencing black people.
Now let me clarify that last comment. I have only heard tale of black people being ragged for their skin color. Brown people are ragged for their nationality or religion and yellows are...I've never heard of Asians being discriminated against in modern times actually...
And we seem to treat Indians with respect? But back on topic, brown people are discriminated against for the association of religion and nationality, not for skin color like black people are.
Bullshit, it is. I've seen racism, I've seen homophobia, I've seen sexism. Just because you are not affected by it doesn't mean it's not real. Of course any self aware adult with a brain knows everybody is equal, that doesn't change the fact that KIDS see and are affected by discrimination, hence why they need to be taught about equality.
Chu, I say POC because it's the easiest way to say anybody that isn't white. And isn't discrimination discrimination, wrong is wrong no matter whether it be judgement for your skin, your religion, your nationality.
Okay fair enough, but is it not their skin colour that makes the discriminator assume they are of a certain religion/nationality? And I'm not saying POC implies the discrimination, I'm using POC as a way to encompass minorities.
